Overview

Role Summary:

BankMobile is seeking an experienced Controller to join its fast-growing fintech organization. Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer (CAO), the Controller will be responsible for oversight of accounting, reporting, and internal control activities. The Controller must be comfortable with both hands-on detail and working closely with all levels, to include the accounting staff, executive team, and external auditors.

 

The Controller will lead all day-to-day accounting operations and supervise a staff. Responsibilities will include general accounting functions, external and regulatory reporting, taxes and Sarbanes-Oxley Act compliance.  The person in this leadership role is a critical member of the BankMobile leadership team and will help lead process improvement initiatives across the organization.  The ideal candidate will have experience in a fast-paced, high growth organization. An active CPA license and experience in an SEC-regulated public company is a must to be successful in this role.

Responsibilities

The position includes the following responsibilities:  

  • Oversight, supervision and management of all accounting and reporting operations ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and SEC and PCAOB requirements.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and auditable accounting records.
  • Maintain an effective and scaled SOX-compliant internal control environment.
  • Coordinate audit activity with external auditors.
  • Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner. Clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results.
  • Compile accurate, timely and complete SEC filings.
  • Assist the CAO with implementing new accounting standards. Maintain accounting policies.
  • Work with external tax accountants on periodic tax provisions and review/filing of tax returns.
  • Maintain a positive, supportive and respectful work environment.

Qualifications

Required Experience/ Qualifications:

  • CPA required and MBA strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field.
  • Must have 7+ years of relevant operations management experience in the field of accounting and finance with 5+ years’ supervisory/managerial experience.
  • Hands-on experience with SEC reporting and SOX compliance.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management, board or other outside partners.
  • Hands-on accounting operations experience including billing, fee processing, receivables and payables management, treasury and working capital management, audit and compliance.
  • Must be extremely detail oriented with ability to be productive under tight deadlines.
