Position Accountability

Design and execution of an end to end performance engineering capability inclusive of scale, performance, stability, reliability, failover, and production monitoring tests and assurance that our systems can meet the rapid growth that our business demands.

 

Responsibilities

  • This is a hands-on performance engineering role that goes beyond just test script development to help identify and orchestrate the scientific method to re-engineer or tune the system to scale
  • Define performance test success criteria, types of tests to execute, architecture definition for the system under test (SUT) and next change to execute to ensure a repeatable testing framework.
  • Align and/or re-use functional or production monitoring scripts in the performance test suite, and re-use production monitoring tools to measure performance test results where applicable
  • Help define and drive consensus on integration technical decisions and deliver high quality results
  • Ensure all tests are sufficiently documented in detail and auditable from test to test
  • Identify, assess, track and mitigate issues and risks at multiple levels

 

Expected Outcomes

  • Our bank systems can confidently scale to MM’s of users and B’s of transactions by engineering and tuning the system to sufficient levels
  • Production scalability or response time issues can be recreated and solved quickly in the performance test environment
  • Test harnesses are extremely business-oriented and aligned with functional test and production monitoring scripts

 

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Load, Stress and Endurance test planning, scripting and execution with ability to aid in solution scaling of systems in the MM’s of users and B’s of transactions
  • Experience summarizing Performance Testing results in a clear and concise manner and reporting out to client leadership
  • Extensive experience configuring and executing scripts using Performance Testing Tools such as Rational Performance Tester (RPT), HP LoadRunner, JMeter and more
  • Experience maintaining and frequently updating performance testing scripts based on application enhancements and changes
  • Experience analyzing performance test results and identifying performance trends and bottlenecks using APM tools
  • Experience in implementing large-scale custom development and/or systems integration projects in one or more phases of the SDLC
  • Some experience with Azure, .Net, and Microsoft SQL Server
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with experience exercising mature judgment
  • Strong understanding of SDLC methodologies (Agile, SCRUM, RUP, other)
  • Experience working with business users to gather requirements, writing functional and technical specifications and communicating technical requirements
  • S. in Computer Science, MIS, or related field (M.S. preferred)
