WHAT DOES A RISK ANALYST DO?
Supports the Risk organization as a trusted advisor/consultant to the line of business consulting on the
major risk factors influencing their financial success. Risk Analysts help determine if business ideas are
viable based on the amount of risk the company shareholders want to take on. They collect data to
determine risk vs. reward and translate them into key risk indicators(KRIs) that are leading indicators of
risk. Risk Analysts also support root cause identification and make recommendations on how to mitigate
risk to an acceptable level commiserate with the risk appetite of the organization. They routinely
monitor KRIs and help adjust the risk posture and appetite as business strategy and objectives evolve.

Skills

• Analytical: Strong analytical skills are a must for a Risk Analyst. They must be able to quickly analyze a large collection of data, then create reports and determine results.
• Decision making: Risk Analysts are often in charge of making business and financial decisions for their clients. The ability to quickly analyze data and make a decision, such as which stock or whether or not to issue credit, is crucial.
• Communication: Written and verbal communication skills are important for Risk Analysts. They must communicate clearly and effectively with clients and team members

• Process Mapping
• Develop executive-level presentations to include summaries and recommendations
• Project management

• Ability to quickly understand business process
• Make recommendations to reduce risk, e.g., propose control enhancements, develop KRI/threshold reporting, establish limits
• Use critical thinking in combination with GRC tools and data to calculate the risk of a decision
• Consult with business decision-makers and understand their business objectives, data and needs
• Evaluate business processes, objectives, financials to determine various levels of risk

WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO LOOK FORWARD TO?
In this role, you'll be the go-to person for sizing risks and closely monitoring Key Risk Indicators. As part

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
● A bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or statistic or commensurate experience of
3+ years in a risk management-type role at a financial services organization
